James "Jim" Edward Moody, 58, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Born in Ohio, Jim graduated from Maranatha Baptist Academy and received his BA from Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
In April of 2002, Jim married the love of his life, Tina-Marie Moody whom he loved to infinity.
Jim proudly served on the Tampa Police Department for over 32 years. During his tenure, Master Patrol Officer James Moody worked Patrol, Traffic Unit, DUI Unit and spent 10 years with the Motor Unit. While with TPD, he obtained several commendations to include a Top Ranking in the Law Enforcement Olympics for the State of Florida where he placed in the Top 5. Jim was proud member of the NRA and EAA for many years.
Jim was an avid duck hunter, deer hunter and fisherman (bass fishing was his favorite). He enjoyed boating, scalloping and just being on the water. Jim was a pilot and had a passion for flying planes, helicopters and Ultralights. He even surprised Tina-Marie with a plane ride on their first date to a beautiful restaurant in Lakeland.
Jim is survived by his wife, Tina-Marie; parents, John and Vicki Moody; children, Sarisa Guerra (Gabe), Alexis Norman, James Warren Moody, Carisa Allen (Kurt), Leah Moody, Emily McCoy (Nick); siblings, Krisan Elkins (Jim), Daniel Moody (Cynthia); grandchildren, Victoria, Gabriel, Savannah, Bentley, Royce, Kylan; bonus daughters, Tereza Martin, Sally Crisp, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
A gathering of family and friends for Jim will be held Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. A celebration of life service will occur Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hillsdale Baptist Church, 6201 Ehrlich Road, Tampa, FL 33625. For those of you that are unable to attend in person, Hillsdale Baptist Church will broadcast the service live on their webpage for you to join in to watch Jim's Celebration of Life Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Jim's memory.
