James "Butch" Patrick Gurley

Jim was born on April 5, 1947, to Russell and Margaret of Forest City, North Carolina, and was a graduate of East Carolina University. He was dedicated to his career with General Motors for more than 35 years.

His loving spirit was cherished by all, especially his family, who he loved unconditionally, and through whom he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gilda Alvarez Gurley; son, Justin; daughter, Jaime Helms, her husband, Josh, two grandsons, Rory and Rhett, and granddaughter Renley; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Crawford, and nieces Taylor and Maddy.

With the best smile, a great sense of humor and wit to match, Jim was a classic-car enthusiast who enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his garage, watching Fox News, and playing with his grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church 821 S. Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
