Jacqueline Joyce Rogers Reynolds “Jackie” died suddenly and unexpectedly May 23, 2023. Aptly nicknamed “Yackie” by her schoolteacher, Jackie never met a stranger. She had a smile that lit up every room and every conversation. Any random person she met was her friend. By the time she finished with whomever fell within her proximity – clerk, doctor, pharmacist, etc. – she would know their whole life story and most likely invite them to church. She was a woman of deep faith, truly selfless and thoughtful of others, who lived her life in Christian service.
Her collection of friends is vast and the stories renowned. Jackie was a lifelong bridge player and over their 50 years together, her bridge friends have become her sisters and extended family. She was the center of the circle of friends in her neighborhood and they are already lost without her. Every day, she would sit on her back patio with the fountain in her view. Her neighbors would drop in, always watching out for her and keeping her company.
As a mom, she would be teased endlessly for her love of shopping and her loathing of cooking. Her purchases were a source of great amusement for all – when she found a treasure, she was certain to buy one in every color. Never one to adopt technology, she did, however, discover Venmo. Always generous, she would “V-mo” her grandkids random monetary gifts for a new outfit or a date night.
In death, Jackie joins the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Jerry L. Reynolds, D.D.S. Remaining to mourn her are her three children, Elizabeth Reynolds Silverstein (Steve), Laura Sue Thompson (Larry) and David Lind Reynolds (Shellie), and her seven grandchildren, Stephen Thompson, Ryan Thompson (Kaitlyn), David Reynolds, Andrew Reynolds (Liz), Maggie Hult, Lindsay Hult (Zikang Shao) and Laura Hult.
A service to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Idlewild Baptist Church. Visitation starts at 10:00 A.M. followed by a service at 11:00 A.M. Plants are welcomed to plant in Jackie's memory or contributions can be made in her memory to Idlewild Baptist Church.
