Dorothy began her working career at Bill’s Luncheonette in Suffolk, Virginia. She also worked at Planter’s Peanuts and Lipton Tea while living in Suffolk. After moving to Tampa, Dorothy began her retail career with the J. J. Newberry Co. for a short time before being hired by Maas Brothers in downtown Tampa. Dorothy retired from Maas Brothers after 40+ years as a cosmetics specialist.
Dorothy is predeceased by her brother Olen Murray, and sisters Willie Page, Mary Babb, and Margarite Smith, her first husband, Robert Henry Ferguson, and her second husband, Henry J. Rehl. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Vickie Elizabeth Ferguson, her son Robert Henry Ferguson, Jr., and her granddaughter Erica Nichole Ferguson, all of Tampa. Dorothy is also survived by loving friends and many nieces and nephews in Florida, Virginia, Georgia, and California.
A graveside service will be conducted 10am, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, Fla. 33610.
