"She was a matriarch in every sense, the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of remarkable strength and grace. Born in Cuba, she carried with her a legacy of resilience, determination, and love that she passed down through generations. As the first granddaughter, I had the privilege of witnessing her unwavering dedication to our family. She was the heart of our home, caring for us with a fierce protectiveness, while my grandfather worked tirelessly at TECO. Her nurturing extended beyond our family, as she balanced her role bringing compassion and care to countless others—with her profound spiritual practice as a Reiki master. Her healing hands and gentle wisdom were a comfort to all who knew her, and her deep spirituality served as a guiding light for those who sought solace.
Her life was a testament to the power of love and service, from managing the joys and chaos of a growing family to bringing peace and healing to the wider community. She taught us the importance of family, faith, and perseverance, leaving behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and spiritual connection. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in all who were touched by her love.” -granddaughter Vanessa Castillo
