Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, “Deb”, as she was known to those close to her, was the daughter of Diana Winchester (Dolder) and Charles Dozier. She graduated from Turpin High School in 1983 then moved to Florida, spending many happy years working in the hospitality industry, and playing on those beautiful Panhandle beaches. She later moved to Tampa and worked her way through USF, earning a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. Deb also spent several years as a Veterinary Technician, which fed her lifelong passion for helping animals.
She met the love of her life, Eric Chase, in Ft. Walton Beach, and they were married in 1998. She became a mother to twins, Alec and Ryan, in 2003, and her greatest joy was spending time with her beautiful family, including her many golden retrievers—Levi, Nicki, Riley, Dexter, Holly, Otto, Rudi—and a parrot named Bert. She was a true animal lover all her life, saving countless strays and turtles over the years.
Deb was preceded in death by her father Charles, her stepfather Robert, her mother-in-law Maggie, and her brothers Danny and Dennis. She is survived by her husband, Eric, her sons Alec and Ryan, her mother Diana, her brothers Dana (Renee) and Doug (Bethannie), and her sisters, Tiffany and Danielle. She also leaves behind a community of friends and extended family who were touched by her boundless generosity and unique personality.
A celebration of Deb’s life will be held on Sunday, August 25 at 2 PM at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, 3207 West Bearss Avenue in Tampa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to ASPCA.org, a cause close to Deb’s heart.
