Christopher Michael Hoffman passed away April 11, 2021 in Riverview, Fla. He was born on October 30, 1960 in Riverhead, N.Y., to the late Margaret O’Toole Hoffman and Charles Hoffman. He was married for 32 years to his beloved wife, Joanne Fadell Hoffman. They were blessed with three wonderful children: daughter, Shannon Nichole; and then twins, Sean Patrick and Michael Christopher (Ashley). Chris was excited to learn in the weeks before his passing that he would become a grandfather for the first time later this year.
Chris was born on Long Island in New York and moved with his father’s military career. They settled in Tampa, and he was proud to call Riverview home. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1978 where he ran cross country. Always fiercely independent, hardworking, and with a great mind for anything mechanical, he and Joanne started their plumbing company in November of 1988. Chris’s Plumbing Service continues to be a proud family run business in Riverview Florida with all of his children, brother in law and several nieces and nephews eventually joining the company.
Chris was a loving husband, devoted father, son, brother and friend. His family was his priority, he was proud of his children, attended their school and sporting events, traveled the country to watch his daughter’s rowing regattas, taught his sons how to run a business and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He loved the beach, fishing, a good meal, watching live sports, especially NASCAR, and working on his 1956 antique Ford truck. He built race cars and did demolition derby for many years at Eastbay Raceway as a way to spend time with his sons and close friends. He was tall in stature, had a larger than life personality, told the best jokes, could ride a unicycle, gave honest advice, spoke his mind, and was a role model to his children and family.
He is survived by his wife and children; brother, William Hoffman (Rhonda); sisters, Marguerite Hoffman-Beaulieu (Allan), Janinne Abel (Matt); sisters-in-law, Cheryl Martin, Laurie Pearson; brother-in-law, Tim Fadell; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Christopher's life will be held Saturday 9-10 a.m. at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 East Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida. Interment to follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4228 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida.
