Carol Mae Dauzy, age 88 of Tampa, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 18, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul on October 25, 1998, and her parents George D. and Jane (LaFave) Parker, and her sisters Luella, Pat and Pearl.
Carol was born in Munising, Michigan on July 6th, 1934. Carol graduated from William G. Mather High School in 1952. She married Paul Edward Dauzy on September 25, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Carol left her first employment with Kimberly-Clark to raise their 3 children. She began working at Putvin’s Drug store when her children entered school and she retired in 1989. Paul retired the same year and they enjoyed spending their winters in Tampa, Crystal River and Bokelia Pine Island, Florida.
Carol was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Munising, Michigan, St. Theresa Catholic Mission Church in Au Train, Michigan and upon her permanent move to Tampa, Florida in the summer of 2016 she became a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was active in her women’s circle at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 40 years. Carol found great joy in being a member of the Red Hat Society and her “Class of 52” high school classmates who met regularly for luncheons.
Carol’s gift was hospitality, she enjoyed cooking delicious desserts and meals for friends and residents of her community. Everyone knew her desserts were especially epic. Each day at 3:00 PM was her dedicated prayer time. You did not interrupt her while she prayed the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. She loved to read, spend time at the family cabin on 16 Mile Lake with her family which included bonfires, smores and fireworks. In addition, she loved walking along the nature trail at Sand Point Beach, drinking coffee all day long and of course her nightly wine!
Survivors include her sons Jeffrey (wife Pamela) of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Michael (wife Denise) of Lawton, Oklahoma, and daughter Joanne (deceased husband Charlie) Mirabella of Tampa, Florida, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A visitation will take place at Blount and Curry funeral home, 605 S. MacDill Avenue, Tampa, Florida on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A prayer service at 7:30 PM will conclude the visitation. A Catholic funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, Florida on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow at Blount and Curry funeral home. Interment will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising, Michigan at a later date.
