Brittain William Whitaker, a beloved husband, father, and distinguished attorney, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 surrounded by family. Born on February 21, 1934, at Tampa General Hospital to the late Pearl Chancey and Patrick Crisp Whitaker.
Brittain is survived by his cherished wife, Alvie Whitaker, with whom he celebrated 69 years of marriage since their union on December 18, 1954. He is also survived by his two sons, Michael W. Whitaker (Beth) and Daniel D. Whitaker (Allison), who continue to honor their father's legacy, along with his beloved granddaughters, step granddaughters and great grandchildren: Kristen Whitaker, Amanda Whitaker, Ashley McNamara (Mark) Jackson McNamara, Remy McNamara, Brittany Moody (Steffan), Rachel Breitbach (Caleb), Beck Breitbach, Lola Breitbach, Otto Breitbach, Millie Breitbach.
As a sole practitioner, Brittain was a prominent and highly respected attorney within the Tampa legal community. His dedication to justice and unwavering commitment to his clients earned him admiration and respect from colleagues and clients alike.
Brittain's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. His legacy of love, integrity, and service will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
A private memorial service will be held for the family and a Celebration of Life will be announced in the near future.
