Audrey was my grandmother, Shirley Clifford’s sister. I met her in person when in my teenage years. We went to Stokes Forest with her. She was such a sweet, pleasant lady, so optimistic. I really admired her disposition. I named my daughter,Audrey Kate after her. Every time we callher “Aud”it reminds me of my grandmother saying “Aud” when she talked about her sister.  My grandmother passed before she knew I was having a girl and was naming her Audrey.  But I so cherish that I met her, and could give my daughter her name, she was a delightful person. 

I have known Audrey for over 40 years. We have shared a lot of fun and sadness. She lost her husband and son. I lost my husband. We both had trips to Tampa stadium to watch Bucs play. She said I yelled too loud but she yelled a lot too. We also went to see Discovery on Ice with Brian Botano and Scott Hamilton. We both loved watching all the wonderful skaters that we watched on Olympus in person right in front of us on the ice. We went to Circus with our friend Malee and had a great time. I remember her 4 dogs that she had that she loved so deeply.  When I gave her 100 th birthday celebration she said it was the best day of her life. All the grandkids and their families , her sister Joan and two of her grandkids and her friends attended and she was very happy. It was my pleasure too make sure all her needs were met these last ten years while she was at Gandy crossing. Before covid my dog Ivy and I would visit her and take her chocolates and books to occupy her time. I missed that when they closed down this last year and worried that she needed something and I was unable too see her. I was happy when I did get to go see her on at 105th birthday.  She was a very strong person and a good neighbor and friend. I will think of her daily in loving memories. I know she is with her family and friends again and all of her furbabies. May God Bless!

I loved to go visit Nanny Audrey though she was hard of hearing she loved to hear about how all my siblings were doing. She adored reading and was obsessed with James Patterson. Everytime we came to visit I'd bring flowers and something sweet which always put a smile on her face. She loved to do word searches and always had a sweet normally in the form of chocolate near by. I loved tell her about my trips and she would act so shocked when I told her of my next adventure especially when I informed her I was doing a internship in Bahrain. I loved Nanny Audrey and I'm really going to miss her ❤

My earliest memories of Audrey was going to her little house for Thanksgiving and enjoying a full spread complete with her famous Shoo-Fly Pie with about a dozen other people in her tiny kitchen, sitting elbow to elbow around little card tables. 

I recall riding to her house on my horse and enjoying lunch with her just one-on-one. We would enjoy our meal together and she would tell me about the beautiful flowers we saw from the window where we sat with her little dog Yancy sitting at her feet. She always had little parakeets happily chirping from their cage in the living room. Although her home was very small, she proudly kept it neat and tidy and I loved visiting here there. She had a small collection of little glass bird figurines that I recall admiring and wanting to play with. She would let me hold one if I was careful.

She would spend her days tending her flower gardens which gave her great joy! She introduced orchids to me and gave me a huge hanging basket of beautiful fuchsia orchids that I kept until I left Florida and gave them back to her in 2000.

Since leaving Florida, my visits with Audrey were few and far between but I made sure to visit her every time I came to town. When she turned 98 years old, I remember saying to her, "You're gonna make it to 100, aren't you?!" And she replied with 100% confidence: "YEP!" Adding, "There's nothing wrong with me, I'm just old!" We both laughed.

Audrey told me her secret to a long life was "having a positive attitude no matter what God throws your way, keeping your mind active, and having a little bit of chocolate every day." I fully believed her!

When she turned 100, we all threw her a big birthday party where everyone gave her crossword puzzle books and candy. She received so much of both, she laughed and said, "Oh, for Heaven's sake! This will last me for years!"

I will forever remember Grandma Audrey and how much she influenced my life. May you Rest In Peace, sweet lady. I will always remember and love you!

Audrey will always have a special spot in my heart.  I first met her when I started dating her son, John, after my husband had died.  A few years later when, when John died, and both of my parents were gone, I adopted her as an "adopted mom".   She was a strong woman.  We always teased about her stealing all the 'good genes'.  She will always have a special spot in my heart.  May she rest in peace.  sure will miss her and writing those monthly letters to her.

One of my fondest experiences was being with Audrey in the kitchen when she was cooking. The tiniest of places she was amazing. During my elementary school days she would pick me up from school, walk to her house and make me lunch. And if I was good then I would get some pie! My absolute favorite was her Shoo-Fly pie.  She was a "rock" to all and will be missed greatly.

such a sweet woman, that brought joy to everyone. Nanny will be missed deeply. Thoughts and prayers for all the family. Love you all
