Arthur J. Faggion, Jr. passed into eternal life on November 2, 2020. Art was born on July 28, 1944 in Lansing, Michigan to Arthur and Antoinette (Magnotta) Faggion. He graduated from Resurrection High School and subsequently earned a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Detroit before serving in the United States Army. During his service, Art received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the M-14 Rifle Expert Badge. Following that, he earned Master’s degrees in both business and finance from Michigan State University and then taught at Central Michigan University and University of South Florida. He returned to Lansing to lead the family business, United Piping & Erecting, when his father’s health failed. It was at this time that his marriage produced the prides of his life, his daughters Danielle and Jennifer, who he remained a devoted and loving father to until his passing. Eventually, Art returned to Florida with his family, where he worked as a project manager on major construction projects, such as the Ice Palace, while working for the Poole & Kent Company of Florida, for which he held the mechanical, plumbing, and contractor’s licenses.
Art was predeceased by his parents, Art and Antoinette, and his brother, Peter. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Danielle and Jennifer, his granddaughters Isabella and Alexis, his sisters Elissa (Dave) Greenburg and Mary Kay Elliott, nieces and nephews, a host of much-loved cousins, and so many respected and devoted friends.
Family was of utmost importance to him as was his faith….in God, in science. . .and even in the Lions.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on November 28, 2020 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home - MacDill Chapel, 605 South MacDill Avenue, Tampa, Florida, followed by a formal service, burial, and celebration of his life to be held in 2021 in Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider joining the bone marrow registry at bethematch.org or donating to the International Myeloma Foundation at myeloma.org or the American Cancer Society at cancer.org. One of Art’s proudest achievements was defying the multiple myeloma odds and exceeding all expectations, so, by becoming a bone marrow donor or donating to causes helping to fight blood and bone marrow cancers, you will continue his legacy.
