BALDY, Anderson Lacy Jr. passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, February 23, 2017. Lacy was born November 10, 1930, in Bradenton, FL to Florine McPhaul Baldy and Anderson Lacy Baldy Sr. During his youth, he enjoyed the beauty of Anna Maria Island where he spent many days spearfishing in the pristine Gulf of Mexico waters. He excelled at Manatee High School, as a class officer and co-captain of the Hurricanes 1947 Southern Conference championship football team. Lacy graduated from Florida State University in 1952, where he met the love of his life, Joanne Moore, the daughter of Joseph and Marguerite Moore of Tampa. After graduating college, he served in the US Army on the Korean peninsula during the final stages of the Korean War. Upon his return, Lacy earned his Masters in Political Science at Florida State, and continued studies at Yale University where he was a graduate assistant. Lacy and Joanne were married in 1955 at St. Andrew's Church in Tampa, and were blessed with 62 years of marriage, three children, and six grand-children.For more than 55 years, Lacy was an active member of St. Andrew's Church, serving as vestry member, lay reader, and lay eucharistic minister. He was grateful for the Christian fellowship he shared with many at St. Andrew's over the decades. For more than 50 years, Lacy was a successful commercial real estate broker and investor, serving his profession with integrity and diligence. Lacy was a gifted artist and writer, and in his later years applied his gifts to playing the piano. An excellent tennis player, Lacy enjoyed matches with many friends at Tampa Yacht and Country Club. He was proud of his Scottish and North Carolina family heritage, and was a member of the St. Andrew's Society of Tampa. He also enjoyed friendships made as a member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and the Sertoma community service organization. Left to cherish Lacy's legacy and memory are his wife, Joanne; his children and their spouses, Rebecca and Jeff Masser, Mary Beth and Michael Dickinson, and Anne and Trey Baldy; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Masser, Michelle Dickinson, Mary Ashley Dickinson Edwards and her spouse Ian Edwards, Anne Meredith Baldy, Robert Baldy, and Anderson Baldy; brother-in-law, James Moore, all of Tampa; and Lacy's brother and sister-in-law, James and Jodi Baldy of Ellijay, GA. Lacy was predeceased by his beloved parents, sister, Annie Laurie Reed of Bradenton, and brother, Robert D. Baldy of New Orleans. A memorial funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in downtown Tampa at 11 am Saturday, March 4, 2017. Interment will follow at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton.
