Born February 21, 1926 in Perry, Florida, he was a true sportsman with a passion for wildlife and an avid FSU football fan. He spent many of his retirement years as a conservationist and enjoying the peace and quiet of his farm in Wakulla County while lovingly caring for his family. He enjoyed researching his heritage through genealogy. He was a graduate of Florida State University in 1951 with a BA in the school of business; Honored with the Purple Heart for his service in World War II; Aide in General Douglas MacArthur headquarters in Japan; Master Mason in the Freemasonry Fraternity (Shriner); Retired from the State of Florida as the first man to hold the position of Director of Electronic Data Processing, Dept of General Services.
Visitation will be Monday November 8th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and services will be held Tuesday November 9th 11:00 am at Culley’s Meadow Wood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Rd, Tallahassee, Fl 32308. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chattahoochee, Florida.
William is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Carol M. Corbett, Loving father and grandfather to son William Homer Corbett, Jr.(girlfriend Bobbi Lynn), daughter Kimberly Corbett Nabors, grandsons William Lee Corbett (Melissa) and Kenneth Zachary Nabors, great grandson William Logan Corbett, brother Mac Corbett (Laurena) and numerous nieces and nephews.
