Talmadge (Tal) L. Rushing, 86, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away peacefully in his home on September 1, 2018. He was born in Statesboro, GA on August 26, 1932. Tal graduated from Statesboro High School, received a B.A in Industrial Education from Georgia Southern College, and an M.A. in Vocational Education from the University of Alabama.
Tal enjoyed a long-time career in Vocational Education, teaching for 12 years followed by a 33-year career with the State of Florida Department of Education. He was a member of the American and Florida Vocational Associations. Retired Colonel from U.S. Army after 30 years of service. He had a passion for outdoor activities (hunting, fishing, and camping), he loved working with people, and sharing stories with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Rushing, his son Stephen Rushing, daughter Maria Stephens, and four grandchildren: Kyle Rushing, Benjamin Rushing, Hannah Rushing, and Ella Stephens.
