Susan Sheffield Hayes

Susan Sheffield Hayes, age 60, was born in Tallahassee, Florida on February 22, 1964 to Byron Elmer Sheffield, Jr. and Margie Lolley Sheffield. She peacefully departed on June 19, 2024, in Tallahassee, Florida with her husband Frank Hayes by her side.

She worked many years in the family business, Sheffield Auto & Truck Body shop, where she helped manage and run an established family business for many years until she retired. She loved all the employees at the business; she always said they were like family to her.

Susan’s first love was spending time with her son, James; whether it be sitting playing a game or going out to have fun. She loved her husband Frank, her cats and enjoyed riding her golf cart in the neighborhood, and to her dad’s house, at the lake where she grew up.

Susan is survived by her husband, Barry Franklin Hayes; her son, James Franklin Hayes; her father, Byron Elmer Sheffield, Jr.; her sister- in-law, Lisa Parker Sheffield; her nieces, Natalie Sheffield Batt (Justin Batt), Lindsay Sheffield, Allie Sheffield; her nephew, Byron Elmer Sheffield IV (Christina Sheffield); her great nieces, Madelyn Batt, Olivia Sheffield; her great nephew, Mason Batt. She was predeceased by her mother, Marjorie Lolley Sheffield; her brother, Byron Elmer Sheffield, III; her paternal grandparents, Essie (Sissie) Sheffield, and Byron (Bibi) Elmer Sheffield, Sr.; and maternal grandparents, Ora Lee Howell Lolley, and Charles Lolley. She also had many aunts, uncles, and cousins that she loved.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:00pm on Sunday July, 21, 2024 at the Sheffield home 3765 Lakeview Drive, Tallahassee, FL where she spent many years.
