Robert Eccles Read Jr.

Robert E. Read Jr., 86, of Tallahassee, passed away April 20, 2016. A son of the late Robert E. Read Sr. and Dorothy Mae Watt, he was born March 24, 1930, in Yonkers, New York. Bob attended the University of Florida and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. He served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant of the First Armored Division. Bob was a registered Forester for the State of Florida. He was of the Methodist faith.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Pansy B. Read, second wife Zula P. Read; son James Watt Read; and a brother Kenneth H. Read.

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth D. Flagg (Tom), Robert E. Read III (Crystal), and Edwin B. Read (Jill); grandchildren, Robert E. Read IV (Emily), Rachel M. Read, Timothy D. Flagg, Elizabeth L. Flagg, and Cannon A. Read; great grandchild, Robert E. Read V; step-children, Wade C. Pierce (Wanda), Cynthia P. Prescott (Chuck); step-grandchildren, Cory Pierce, Courtney Pierce, Andy Prescott, Vicky Prescott; sister-in-law Erika R. Read; niece Karen L. Clavgus (Tom); grandnephews, Christopher and Gavin; and grandniece, Lexi.

A visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Killearn United Methodist Church, 2800 Shamrock South, Tallahassee, Florida, with a graveside memorial immediately following at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park.
