Rita Mae Paquin was born on October 1, 1929 and passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 in Tallahassee, Florida. She was the only child born to Edward Wyman and Nora Hastings Wyman of Manchester, New Hampshire.
Rita graduated from St. Joseph’s High School for Girls in 1948. In 1949 she married the love of her life, Rene Paquin. While still residing in Manchester, they began their family. In 1956, they moved to Carol City, Florida. With her five children in school, Rita went to work outside her home as a drapery seamstress. In the summer of 1974, Rita and Rene moved to Lake Worth, Florida. At the start of the following school year, she began working as a school cafeteria assistant and retired from the Palm Beach County School Board in 1985.
Wherever she lived, Rita had many friends and was a good friend to many in return. Having spent her childhood in New Hampshire Rita often spoke of her love for ice skating. As a mom raising five children she enjoyed sewing, crafting and spending an evening out bowling with friends or trying her luck at Bingo. With more free time after retirement, Rita and Rene loved being active members of the American German Club. She enjoyed trips to Ireland, Germany, traveling around the country, courtesy of Eastern Airlines, and simply driving down the road to her favorite casino. Her most treasured place in the world was Lake Tahoe, with Rene.
Rita is preceded in death by her son, Robert (1984), her husband, Rene (2009) and her great granddaughter, Hannah (2009). She leaves behind her other children, Debbie VanBerkel (John), Dotsy Penn (Bill), Richard Paquin (Lisa) and Nancy Crosby (Mike), grandchildren Chris Van Berkel, Nora Jacoby, Mike VanBerkel, Billy Penn, Joey Penn, Devin Paquin, Rachel Paquin, Tiffany DeLeon and 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Lake Worth Memory Gardens. 3041 Kirk Rd., Lake Worth Beach, Florida 33461
