Mr. Richard Shelton Graves

Richard Shelton Graves of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on December 16, 2015. Born in Panama City on November 2, 1954, Shelton moved to Tallahassee after High School to attend Florida State University where he majored in Geology. He graduated with a Masters of Science Degree in Geology in 1986. Shelton worked the majority of his career for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as a project manager, supervisor and professional geologist in the Bureau of Solid and Hazardous Waste. He retired in early 2013.

A man of many interests, Shelton was an avid reader on a wide range of topics including religion, politics and philosophy. He enjoyed traveling, a variety of music and the arts, and collected coins, stamps and books. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed watching college football and baseball. But most of all Shelton loved his cats. He will be remembered fondly for his dry wit, his dedication to Florida’s environment, and his compassion for his friends.

Shelton is survived by his brother Kenneth of Panama City, and his friends who will treasure his memory.
