October 24, 2018. She was born in Samson, AL on May 26, 1928 and was a graduate of Samson High School. She worked at various places, including Bill's Bookstore.
Merle was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Pearl Jenkins; her husband, H. J. (Jack) Adkison; her brothers, Buck and John Jenkins; her sisters, Lois Early, Pearlie Dobrolet, Lukie Walters and Penny Griggs; and her daughter, Lynn Murkerson.
Merle is survived by her sons, Michael Adkison (Joan) and Ken Adkison (Connie); grandchildren John Murkerson, Shannon Gibson (Brad), Lisa Meeks (Finch) and Lindsey Adkison; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Seminole Baptist Church, 3330 Mission Rd on October 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM EDT with visitation at 10:00 and interment following at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Care Hospice at 1921 Capital Cir NE, Tallahassee FL, 32308 or at choosecovenant.org.
Merle's love and kindness are expressed best by something her daughter, Lynn, wrote to her on a past Mother's Day.
To Our Mother
On this Mother's Day, May 11, 1997, I want you to know that no mother
could possibly be better than you. You're the best. I thank you for all
these years of caring for and loving all of us. We all, too, love you
more than words can say.
I have a special thank-you to give to you from me for the time and care
you gave to John during my time of need--the years that you helped me by
looking after him. Thank you. This is also true of Mike and Kenny. The
years you helped Mike by your caring for Lisa and the years you helped
Kenny in caring for his family. We were all fortunate that you were not
working and could help us. I know that Mike and Kenny both appreciated
this as I do from you and Daddy, too. And we all love you.
And too, I couldn't possibly forget all your most very special four
grandchildren who all love you so very much.
