Mary Louise Hafner

She attended local schools through junior college. Mary married Lawrence E. Hafner in 1952, a Lutheran elementary school teacher who went on to receive his doctorate in 1960 from the University of Missouri. On moving to Durant, OK, Mary completed the course work for a BS degree in education at Southeastern State College, Durant, OK. They also lived in Carbondale, IL, and Athens, GA, before moving to Tallahassee and Florida State University in 1971. Dr. Hafner died April 10, 2002.

A memorial service of celebration will be held on December 4th, 2021 at 9:00 AM at University Lutheran Church and Student Center, 925 West Jefferson Street, Tallahassee, FL. Parking is available in the church lot off of Pensacola Street and behind Garnet and Gold. A reception for friends and family will occur at the church following the service. Burial will be announced at a later date.

Survivors include daughter, Rebecca Hafner-Camp (Jim) of LaGrange, GA; son, Charles Hafner (Cindy) of Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Linda Martinelli (Kenny) of Tampa, FL; daughter, Katie Hafner Johns (Kenny) of Walhalla, SC; grandson, John Camp (Alex); great-granddaughters, Abigail Camp and Jillian Camp, and great-grandson, Robert Lawrence Camp of Atlanta, GA; grandson, James Camp of LaGrange, GA; grandson, Gabriel Cabrera of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Casey Barrett (Joshua) of Tallahassee, FL; granddaughter, Sarah Voss of Walhalla, SC; sister, Betty Biggers (James) of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Alice Wrensch of Milwaukee, WI; and many nephews and nieces. Other family members include Andy Walker (Molly) and Rory Camp of Carrollton, GA; Jac Camp (Ashlie Owen-Smith) and Leonard Camp of Decatur, GA; and Kathleen Adams (Christian) of Suwanee, GA. Besides her husband and parents, a sister, Dorothy Purfield, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene and Lori Hafner, preceded her in death.
