Kathryn Oswald Drohan, 93, of Tallahassee, formerly of Titusville, Florida passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 23, 2021 after a week’s stay at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 18, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida and was retired from J.C. Penney Co. in Titusville where she was a customer service representative. Previously she worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company as a service representative in Jacksonville. Kathryn graduated from Landon High School where she was a member of the Lionettes. She also played fast pitch softball and was a pitcher. Kathryn was very competitive and continued her competitiveness against her husband, Roger, in any activities they would undertake. Her competitive nature was passed on to her son, Rocky, and to all of her grandchildren! She spent many hours playing games of Uno, SkipBo, Wii Bowling and shooting baskets with them.
Kathryn and her husband, Roger, were members of Indian River City United Methodist Church for 54 years before moving to Tallahassee in 2016. Over the years she served as a Sunday School teacher, youth counselor with Roger, was a member of the Dorcas Circle with The United Methodist Women, was a member of the Fishermen Sunday School class and was a member of the Kitchen Ministry. She and Roger also helped to establish an activities program for senior citizens to keep them active.
Kathryn loved participating in sports, watching sports, and was a devoted Little League Mom spending many nights at the baseball field cheering on her son Rocky’s team where Roger was often the manager or coach. She also cheered them on while working in the concession stand. Her hobbies included sports, watching her grandchildren’s activities which included dance, theatre, sports and piano. She loved vacationing at the beach and taking walks on the beach.
Kathryn was predeceased by her father Edgar H. Oswald, mother Reba N. Oswald, brother Edgar H. Oswald, Jr., sister Reba Oswald Bridier, sister Miriam Oswald Stewart, sister Mary Dean Oswald Cook, brother Jack A. Oswald, brother Joseph Oswald, sister Marguerite Oswald Bowen, brother William F. Oswald and husband Roger Cook Drohan, Sr. She is survived by two children, Vicki Drohan Brokaw (Pete), Roger C. Drohan, Jr. “Rocky” (Kelly); six grandchildren, Matthew Drohan, Lacey Beth Thompson (Matthew), Morgan Hooks (Jon), Chasen Brokaw (Katie), Katelyn Brokaw, Ethan Fulton; two great granddaughters, Elois Thompson and Winnie Thompson, one great grandson, Alexander Brokaw; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10 am at Culley’s Meadowwood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL. The service will also be shown through livestream on the Culley’s Meadowood Funeral Home Timberlane Road Facebook page beginning at 10 am.
