Kathleen K. Mullen

Died April 22, 2017 in Tallahassee, Florida, after a brief illness. She was born on July 15, 1929 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to John C. Kelly and Margaret Hounihan Kelly and attended Laurelton Hall, Bassick High School and the University of Bridgeport. She married Harold F. Mullen on April 10, 1950. They moved multiple times in the tristate area, eventually settling in New Fairfield, Connecticut where she pursued a career in special education.

Her hobbies were reading, gardening, sailing and world travel. She was a long time member of the Danbury Garden Club and the Candlewood Yacht Club. She and Harold moved to Tallahassee in 2008 where he passed away in 2009.

She is survived by daughters, Sheila O’Brien (Thomas) of Pinehurst, North Carolina and Maura Canter (Bram) of Tallahassee, grandchildren, Jonathan O’Brien (Sandra) of Graham, North Carolina, Jeremy O’Brien (Elizabeth) of Toronto, Canada, Marti Bolivar of Somerville, Massachusetts and Hypatia Bolivar of Gainesville, Florida, great grandchildren, Skylar and Brooklyn O’Brien of Graham, North Carolina and Justin and Jessica Freeze of Graham, North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 12 at 2 p.m. in the Westminster Oaks chapel, 4449 Meandering Way, Tallahassee, Florida (lower level). Internment at Saint Michel’s Cemetery, Stratford, Connecticut will be at the convenience of the family.
