Jack E. Polk Jr., 78, a retired Wildlife Officer with Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission and resident of Liberty County, FL, passed away at his home on December 14, 2020 after a brief fight with brain cancer. Jack was born in St. Petersburg, FL on January 18, 1942. He served in the Army National Guard for 8 years. Jack was a Master Mason member of the Jackson Lodge #1 in Tallahassee FL since 1988.
Jack served in his capacity for the State of Florida as a lieutenant overseeing the Apalachicola National Forest and surrounding counties in the last 20 years with the agency. He was a beekeeper for over 30 years. Jack enjoyed hunting and all types of outdoor sportsman activities, such as managing the Beargrass hunting club in his extra time, his many projects ranging from development of longleaf pine timberland, growing citrus and native trees on he and his wife's retirement property, creating their own Garden of Eden that they lovingly worked on from daylight to dark.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Sr. and mother, Myram; his sister, Regina; brothers, Steve and Stanley; and infant daughter, Judith.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of 44 years; children: Marie Hayes (Tim), Karen Conrad (Tony), Traci Malambri (Nick), Alicia Carroll (Lathe), Ralph Carroll (Kristy); 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and additional extended family and friends, including his beloved cat, Dixie, who will all miss him dearly.
Due to COVID, a private Memorial Service will be held at a later date for immediate family.
