Dr. Edward Valenstein died March 8, 2013 at the age of 70 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He graduated from the High School of Music and Art in New York, cum laude from Harvard College and received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Ed had been a member of the University of Florida Department of Neurology for more than thirty years and was Chairman of the department for the six years prior to his retirement in 2008. Following his retirement from the University of Florida he joined the faculty at the Florida State University College of Medicine.
He is survived by his wife Candace, his sons Aaron Valenstein (Rebecca) and Noah Valenstein (Jennifer), and his granddaughter Ava Valenstein.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, March 11th, 2013, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida.

The Chapman Humanism Society at the University of Florida College of Medicine selects and honors senior medical students, residents, and faculty members who exemplify the highest standards of humane patient care.
