“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” Hebrews 12:1
Bucky (Alex to some of you) went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 5th 2023. He passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of sixty-six. Born in Annapolis, MD to Alexander Ernest Waller II and Shirley (Boyd) Waller, he is survived by: His wife of 39 years, Eileen Suzanne (Miller) Waller. His sisters: Cheryl Valentine, Lynda Tatum (Doug), Kerry Magee (Matt), Victoria Sovetsky (Dan), Lindsay Harford-Waller (Josh). His sons: Alexander “Alec” Ernest Waller IV (Autumn), Joshua Seth (Rebecca), Nathan Gray (Emily). His daughters: Grace Marie (Ryan Talaska), Faith Michelle Coke (Duncan), Joy Elizabeth Sale (Zach), Hope Victoria. And sixteen grandchildren Tate, Ashwin, Kit, Georgia, Ava, Ellee, Julian, Nora, Noelle, Zimri, Lyla, Sophia, Esther, Benaiah, Naomi, Ezekiel. And many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The first thing that comes to mind for those who knew Bucky was his zeal for the Gospel. His passion to see people come to know his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was evident to all. After coming to know the Lord, Bucky felt called to missions while in college. A teacher by trade, he dedicated his life to discipling others and always looked for an opportunity to share Jesus. In retirement, he continued to mentor young men through a local ministry. We are confident that our Lord Jesus Christ was able to welcome him into His heavenly arms saying, “Well done, my beloved son”. We are also confident that He who began a good work in Bucky continued to grow him, day by day, till the day of his death. We saw him daily surrender his life and intentionally work on areas of weakness and sin, as he often laid down his own desires and poured out his life in service to others. He graduated with honors from: The University of South Florida, Oral Roberts University, and Florida State University. He retired after 33 years of service to the State of Florida at: Leon County Clerk of Courts, State of Florida Finance/Accounting, Wakulla High School, Lincoln High School, and Chiles High School. Bucky also taught English in Japan, and Math at Community Christian School. He devoted many years to ministry through Sunday School, Summer Camps, Youth and Children’s Ministries, and other ministries at Christian Heritage Church, Trinity Christian Center, Northwoods Baptist Church Thomasville Road Baptist Church, LifePoint Church, Camp Charis, Royal Rangers, Awana, Cross-State Youth Bike trips, Widows and Needy ministry, Tres Dias, Walk with Emmaus. An avid runner, he raced in the 2012 Boston Marathon, as well as several other Florida Marathons. In his free time Bucky coached soccer, volleyball, and track. He also oversaw Mu Alpha Theta Math Club, Chess Club, Cake Club, Fathers Affirming Teens. He tutored mathematics, flipped houses, staged houses, realty assist services, participated in local legislative lobbying for Pro-family causes. For the past 4 years, Bucky was a volunteer men's counselor at “A Women’s Pregnancy Center” and Mosaic Clinic. He met with many new clients and shared the gospel hundreds of times. Through these one-on-one conversations he had the honor of leading dozens of clients to saving faith in Jesus. He would say this was his greatest passion and accomplishment, along with loving his Lord and Savior, and his family, especially his 16 grandchildren, who called him Papa.
He was laid to rest yesterday at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home & Memorial Park
700 Timberlane Rd Tallahassee FL 32312
