Shirley Ann Christie was born on February 4th, 1971 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Roy and Patricia (Southern) Christie. She grew up with three brothers and four sisters, Donald, Jack, George, Veronica, Yvonne, Teresa, and Delores. She grew up and attended school at JC Harmon High School in Kansas City, KS. Her family relocated to northeastern Oklahoma and while living here, Shirley took in upon herself to be the glue that held the family together. She was constantly looking out for her nieces and nephews, and her brothers and sisters, cleaning up after them, cleaning their houses when she visited, cooking one of her special meals, and loving on all of them like they were her own. When she wasn’t raising the nieces and nephews, she was reading a good book, either a romance or mystery novels, working on her Native American beading skills, or cooking one of her scrumptious meals of meatloaf, pork chops, biscuits and gravy, beef stew and omelets just to name a few. There was always some good country western tunes playing on the radio, she loved Loretta Lynn, and the classic country artists. She also enjoyed Native Tic Toc, and long walks to clear the mind and stir the soul. She enjoyed an evening working puzzles and crosswords. Most of all, she loved her family like nothing else on earth. They were everything she held dear in life, and every holiday and weekend found her with those she loved the most. Her health began to fail her and she passed from this life on March 27th, 2022 in Kansas City, KS. She was 51 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Kaiser and Mary (Hooper) Drywater, and Oliver and Lulu Mae (Parks)Southern, as well as her mother and father. She is also preceded by her aunt Josie Glass, nephew Jonathan (Bub) Tilley, and uncle, Big Joe Drywater.
Her memory will be cherished by her four daughters, Angel Tilley and husband Mario of Kansas City, MO, Kellie Tilley Kansas City, MO, Crystal Christie of Kansas City, MO and Olivia Young of Kansas City, MO. She also leaves her brothers and sisters, Veronica Christie of Tulsa, OK, Yvonne Spears and husband Nathan of Muskogee, OK, Teresa Gardner and husband Ronnie of Rich Hill, MO, Delores Christie Ft Gibson, OK, Donald Benedict and wife Robin of Dulce, NM, Jack Christie and wife Christina of Kansas City, KS, and George Christie of Kansas City, KS.
