Shawn Dwain Carter

Shawn Dwain Carter, age 50 of Tahlequah, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at his home in Tahlequah, OK surrounded by the family he loved so much. He was born on February 5, 1974 in Tahlequah, OK, to Larry and Fredia (Chastain) Carter.

Shawn was raised with two sisters, Lori and Amanda, and graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1992. After high school, he went on to marry the love of his life, Heidi McKee. They were blessed with a daughter, Morgan, and shared a love for family and friends that could be felt by all.

Shawn and his Dad were business partners at their automotive and performance shop, Carters Auto in Keys, OK. Shawn enjoyed racing the NHRA circuit with his family and friends, deer hunting, and raising show goats with Heidi and his daughter Morgan. Above all, he cherished moments spent with his granddaughter Presley, and spending time with family and so many friends. People were important to Shawn. He was truly genuine, always listening to the stories, giving great advice, and he always gave all he had to give.

Gone before him are his grandparents Billy Carter and wife Mollie, and Bob Chastain and wife Lennie.

Those continuing his legacy include his wife Heidi Carter, daughter Morgan Jackson and husband Shiloh, granddaughter Presley Jackson, parents Larry Carter and wife Fredia, and two sisters Lori Kindle and husband Jay, and Amanda Hildebrandt and husband Ted. He also leaves a nephew, Hunter Kindle, and niece, Macy Kindle; as well as a host of other family, friends and loved ones whose lives were made better with his smile.

Shawn loved all that were close to him more than you will ever know.

A Celebration of the Life for Shawn will be held on 12:00pm, Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Keys First Baptist Church in Park Hill, OK with Pastor Joey Keith officiating.
