Reva Mae Crawford

Funeral services for Reva Mae Allard-Crawford will be held on Monday, January 6th, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home with Mr. Don Greenfeather officiating. Her family and close friends will provide music. Reva’s family will receive guests on Sunday, January 5th, 2019 beginning at 2:00 PM until 6:00 Pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Reva Mae Crawford was born on Sunday, June 24th, 1945 in Texas, the daughter of Thomas and Frances (Jackson) Allard. She was raised in a military family with one brother, Tom, and traveled a great deal as a young girl. She found her way to Tahlequah, OK and finished her education at NSU, receiving her Masters Degree in Education. She worked for the Cherokee Nation writing grants under the Solutions Program. She absolutely loved people and helping them to find their potential. It didn’t matter to Reva what she had to do, she would work tirelessly to educate, instruct, help and never expect anything in return. During the Administration of President Jimmy Carter, Reva was awarded for her work in Increasing Adult Indian Education, a privilege she was so very proud of. She loved her Native heritage, she was loyal Shawnee and Cherokee. When there was a little free time, she was spending her time with the family she loved and adored, and had one son and one daughter, Bret and Lacey. There was nothing better than a meal at Reva’s, with her light as air biscuits topped with her delectable gravy, Hatch green Chile Stew, and her cobblers were fantastic. If you went to her home for a holiday, you were assured that she would cook every dish with love and serve it with generosity. Reva read books, mysteries, romance, any thing she could get her hands on, and never tired of learning something new. She attended DD Etchison Methodist Church in Tahlequah. She was fond of music, and even though she didn’t consider herself worthy, belted out show tunes and Christmas music every chance she got. She had artistic talent and did abstract paintings, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She could play a game of Angry Birds with the best of them and liked working puzzles, especially Words With Friends. She was always the business professional, yet she had the ability to make everyone she met feel as if they had known her forever. Reva like to crack jokes and puns, both of which she was good. There were always stories of her many business trips, and the fascinating things that occurred. She was wise, wonderful and welcoming, no strangers at Reva’s house. For all the things she had planned, her health began to fail her. She remained her determined self, always looking forward, until her passing on Tuesday, December 31st, 2019 at her home in Tahlequah, OK. She was 74 years old and will be greatly missed.

Reva is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, husband Bob Crawford in 1985, her beloved son Bret Crawford, and her aunts and uncles Lila and Alex Pitts and Lois and Clifford Eddy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Lacey Crawford and companion Allura Vance of Tahlequah, one brother, Tom Allard of California, three grandchildren, Cassie Mansfield and companion Steve Curtis of Thailand, Kody Crawford of Weymouth, MA, and Bretly Crawford Jr. of Edmond, OK. She also leaves many cousins, as well as many students and friends too numerous to mention.
