Orville Leon DeLay entered this life on September 22, 1923 in Teresita, OK, the son of James and Myrtle DeLay. He acquired the nickname Sandy in his younger years in reference to his sandy blond hair. After graduating high school, he went on to marry the love of his life, Etha Yount on January 18, 1948 in Tahlequah, OK and made their home in Tulsa. Their marriage was blessed with two children Roy DeLay and Linda DeLay.
Orville was an avid sports fan spending time watching NASCAR or rooting for the beloved Sooners or Dallas Cowboys. If he couldn’t find a good game on the television you could rest assured that he would entertain you with one of his many stories of the open road, even if you have already heard it a few times. Orville really enjoyed his job as a truck driver for Allied Van Lines, and one year received the runner-up award as driver of the year. He is and will always be a great man that loved his family dearly and was a true friend to those around him. Orville passed from this life surrounded by his family on November 4, 2017 in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 94.
Those that passed before him include his parents, his wife, two brothers, Wesley and Henry DeLay.
Left to remember all the roads he traveled, are his son Roy and wife Christina DeLay of Broken Arrow, OK one daughter, Linda DeLay of Tulsa, OK, and a sister Geneive DeLay of Redwood, CA as well as many friends and loved ones.
