Mitchell James Morrison was born on February 17th, 1963 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of AJ and Sharon (McNeil) Morrison. He had two brothers and one sister, Kim, Johnny, and Billy Jack. He grew up in the Hulbert area and attended school there. He enjoyed playing football, telling a few jokes, doing a little hunting and fishing, and getting into the occasional scrap! When he finished school, he went to work in construction and traveled extensively. As soon as he was home, he loved hunting and fishing in green country. He was a fantastic cook and made the best chicken and dumplings, deer chili, deer stew, and fried fish ever. He was happiest going camping out at the lake. He was an avid fan of OU football and was the man you needed to consult if you needed an updated weather or news report. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved teaching them to fish and cheering them on at their events. He went to work at Lake Region, and was very proud of being a lineman. He was ornery, fun to be around and always into mischief, had a good joke to tell, and never met a stranger. Whenever people asked for help, he was the first to offer. He loved time spent with Amanda, and together, they shared all the life and laughter they could find. A Christian by faith, he always carried his little pocket Bible with him. He enjoyed life just the way he found it, and the people in his family were enough to keep him happy all of his days. Mitchell passed from this life all too soon on July 13th, 2024, doing the activities that he enjoyed in life. He was 61 years old and leaves an empty chair that will never be filled.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dollie Morrison, Earl and Granny (Billie) McNeil, his mother and father, AJ Morrison and Sharon Morrison, sister, Kim Morrison, Aunt Thelma Patterson and her husband Ray, Uncle RB Morrison, Uncle Tommy McNeil, Aunt Lora (Davis) Lee, and cousin Rick Davis.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved companion, Amanda Hakes of the home, and his children, Chris Morrison and wife Jessica of Tahlequah, Dustin Morrison of Muskogee, and Austin Morrison and wife Skye of Hulbert, OK. He leaves two brothers, Johnny Morrison and wife Jenny of Hulbert, OK, and Billy Jack Jackson of Tahlequah, OK. He lives on in his ten grandchildren, Emily Morrison of Tahlequah, OK, Mia Morrison of Collinsville, OK, Karsyn Asher of Hulbert, OK, Maryn Morrison of Tahlequah, OK, Miah Asher of Hulbert, OK, Zoey Morrison of Collinsville, OK, Gunner Asher of Hulbert, OK, Aubree Morrison of Tahlequah, Creedence Morrison of Hulbert, and Emilia Morrison of Hulbert.
