Funeral services for Mary Alice Cookson will be held at Levi-Cookson Cemetery at 2: 00 PM on Friday, June 10th, 2016 with Pastor Perry Flerchinger. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9th, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will be held at Levi Cookson Cemetery. Mary Alice Bailey-Cookson was born on September 10th, 1921 in Hardesty, OK, the daughter of Wesley and Pearl (Lowe) Bailey. She grew up in a household with five sisters , Minnie, Sadie, Marvee, Ann and Ruth. She graduated from Hardesty High School. She married Ogden Levi “O.L”. Cookson and together they raised three sons, Tom, Lindol or “Hank”, and David. Mary Alice was content to be a housewife and mother, but worked outside the home as a certified nurses aide. Mary loved being home for her children as they grew, fixing their meals and keeping up with their wide variety of activities. She liked to quilt and was gifted with beautiful needle work. She loved getting up in the morning and taking a long walk to start her day. She liked to work the garden and raise vegetables and flowers. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist of Tahlequah. She read her Bible and worshipped every chance she had. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were such a source of pride and happy memories for Mary Alice. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on May 27th, 2016 in Tahlequah, OK. She was 94 years old. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Mary Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son, Lindol “Hank” Cookson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Tommy Cookson of Tahlequah, OK and David Cookson of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
