Letha Eloise Steiner

Funeral services for Letha Eloise Steiner will be held on Monday, November 11th, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Chaplain Paul Tavener officiating. She will be laid to rest at Tahlequah City Cemetery. Online condolences for her family may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Letha Eloise Steiner was born on Wednesday, September 7th, 1927 in West Milton, OH, the daughter of Raymond W. and Helen Esther (Shearer) Snyder. She grew up with one brother, Erroll. She attended and graduated from Milton Union High School and then began her studies at Ft. Wayne Bible Institute. While there, she met and later married her faithful companion and best friend, Laverne Steiner. They were joined in Holy Matrimony on November 24, 1949 in West Milton. This union was blessed with three adored daughters, Rita, Rosita and Rachelle. Letha’s life was a life of service and selflessness, all of it aimed at pleasing God Whom she served. From the time she rose first thing in the morning, she picked up her Bible and began to read and then pray for those she knew, for those she didn’t know, and for those the Lord sent to Letha for prayer. She never questioned, only prayed and obeyed. Letha and Laverne felt called by God to serve Him in Tahlequah, OK, to bring others to Christ by mission work at The “Go Ye” Mission. Letha taught Sunday School for children, Bible studies for women, proofread the materials coming out of the print shop, editing the mistakes, and playing the piano at church. She was spunky and possessed a stubborn streak. She was frugal, and never wasted the garden produce she and Laverne raised, even if it meant canning 50 quart jars of green beans. She was hardly able to eat green beans or asparagus during the last of her life because she raised so much. She hand quilted, making beautiful quilts for families to enjoy. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, always making sure the family had what was needed, even if it meant she went without. She enjoyed walking for a breath of fresh air and to unwind. She looked forward to going to Bryant’s Donuts and indulging in a chocolate twist and a Mountain Dew. After dedicating her entire life to the Lord, she retired to Go Ye Village with Laverne. It was here the Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 at the age of 92 years. “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman that fears the Lord is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:28-31

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her grandparents, Charles and Chloe (Thomas) Snyder and Charles and Jane (Mote) Shearer, her brother, Erroll Snyder, and many aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 69 years, Laverne Steiner of Tahlequah, OK, three daughters and their families, Rita Steiner of the home in Tahlequah, Rosita Campbell and husband Mark of Tahlequah, OK, and Rachelle Nelson and husband Todd of Tulsa, OK. She lives on in her six grandchildren, Heather Argabright and husband Chris of Tulsa, Beth Brandt and husband Will of Park Hill, OK, Scot Campbell and husband Brian Proud of Nashville, TN, Nathan Nelson of Tulsa, Caleb Nelson and wife Michaela of Arlington, VA, and Larissa Hale and husband Anthony of Bartlesville, OK. She also leaves five great-grandchildren, Emily Argabright, Sara Argabright, and Caitlin Argabright all of Tulsa, OK, and Jude Brandt and Quin Brandt of Park Hill, OK, as well as many cousins and friends, too numerous to mention.
