Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Southside Baptist Church with
Reverend Ron Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Box Cemetery in
Vian, OK. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 at
Reed-Culver Chapel from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
Leonard Eugene Rose was born on October 20th, 1929 in Stigler, OK, the son
of John Richard and Alcie (Allen) Rose. He graduated from Stigler High
School. He was called to serve his country in 1952, during the Korean War,
in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on December 3rd, 1953. He
married his first wife, Wynona Marie Bias, and together they raised four
children until her passing in 2004. Leonard then married his second wife,
Norma Gean Vinyard in Tahlequah, OK in 2005. Leonard loved the Rose
Furniture Store and the Tahlequah community. He was a Baptist by faith and
regularly attended Southside Baptist Church in Tahlequah. While there, he
served as Sunday school teacher and Deacon. He studied his Bible and knew
his scripture well. He witnessed his lovefor the Lord on every occasion
that he could. Leonard loved spending time with his family and his children.
He had a way of making every child feel they were his “favorite”. His
favorite sport was fishing. He loved to fish. Leonard was a man of
character, value and honor, traits he instilled into his children and
grandchildren. The Lord called Leonard to his eternal home on Friday,
September 30th, 2011 in Tahlequah, OK with his family at his side. He was
eighty one years old. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many
friends he has made here throughout the years.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Wynona, and his
five brothers, Ike, Lloyd, Orville “Tuck”, Kenneth, and Robert “Bob” Rose,
and two sisters, Zadie “Pete” and Ruby.
Leonard will be remembered by his wife Norma of the home. He leaves four
children, Kay Rose of Brentwood, TN, Dwane Rose and wife Debi of Paradise
Valley, AZ, Marie Calico and husband Steve of Tulsa, OK, and Rick Rose and
wife Jennifer of Tahlequah, OK. His legacy lives on in seven grandchildren,
Garren Rose, Hailey Rose, Trenton Calico, Marissa Simonds, Jonathon Rose,
James Rose, and Allison Rose. He leaves two sister-in-laws, Reba Rose of
Marlow, OK and Vida Rose of Tahlequah, OK as well as many nieces, nephews,
cousins and a host of friends and loved ones. Services are under the direction of Reed-Culver.
