Lawford “Luke” Jackson was born on Tuesday, May 4th, 1943 in Keys, OK, the son of J.W. “Eip” and Bonnie (Glenn) Jackson. He was raised with two brothers and three sisters, Bob, Doyle, Juanita, Lola, and Connie. He attended school and then decided to take up ranching. He was at home on a horse, and enjoyed trail riding. He was dedicated and worked as Director of Field Operations for Tahlequah Public Works in Water Distribution. He married Margaret L. Haggard on September 20, 1963 in Stilwell, OK. Together they raised two sons, Bobby James Qualls and Tommy Ray Qualls. When it came to genuine people, Luke was the kindest man you’d ever meet. That smile he flashed was genuine and he was always happy to see you. There was his signature laugh, it lit up the room he stood in the minute you heard it, and you knew Luke was not far away. There were no strangers to Luke, he liked everybody, and had the ability to make you feel welcome. When he wasn’t taking care of his business, he was doing a little deer hunting, doing a round of golf, or hanging around the Keys Fire Department with his friends. If you wanted to see him really happy, just ask him about his grandchildren. They were the most talented perfect people that he knew, and he was their biggest admirer. He enjoyed gathering the family for a holiday and just spending the day talking. He loved his community and dedicated numerous hours in helping to keep those he called neighbors and friends safe in their homes and in their neighborhoods. He was a true and dedicated cowboy, he cared for his livestock, his land and he trusted in God that all went well. He passed the love he had for the land to his family and knew he left it all in good and capable hands. The Lord called this hard working servant home from his years of labor on Sunday, December 15th, 2019 in Park Hill, OK, surrounded by those who knew and loved him well. He was 76 years old. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and two sons, Bobby James and Tommy Ray Qualls, his brother, Doyle Jackson and his three sisters, Juanita Hays, Lola Macario, and Connie Jackson.
Those left to celebrate his life include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Margaret Jackson of the home in Keys, and one brother, Bob Jackson of Keys, OK. He lives on in his grandsons and their families, Brandon Qualls and wife Sabrina of Keys, and Bryan Qualls and wife Sasha of Hulbert. He also leaves four very special great grandchildren, Kynlea, Paisley, Chanley and Keelea Qualls, as well as his nephews, Larry Hayes, Bobby Jackson and Frank Macario, all of Keys and a host of friends and loved ones.
