Larry Douglas (Doug) Thompson was born on August 30th, 1950 in Teresita, Oklahoma, the son of William Herman and Maudie Irene (Hicks) Thompson. After graduation from Oaks High School in May 1968, Doug worked in construction all of his life. He worked up until 2009 for Harris Construction, Doug was always a hard worker and would do anything for anyone.
He devoted his life to raising his three daughters. He never missed an event, a ballgame, or an opportunity to spend time with his girls. He taught them all how to hunt, fish, garden, and many other things. Doug loved spending time with his family, but his greatest joy was his grandkids. He also taught them how to fish and hunt and be tough like little boys are, even his one granddaughter. He often traveled to Texas to see his grandsons, his sister Bobbie and extended family. Doug always made time for his family, and he always had a smile on his face.
Doug was a father figure and friend to many over the years. He loved all of his daughter’s friends, and took them all in as if they were his own children. He had his weekly card game with the guys that he will insist on being on record as the ‘Champion’. He loved hunting and was always ready for opening day. He enjoyed his yearly hunting trip to Nebraska with the boys, and his niece, Tamisha. He loved fishing on Lake Tenkiller in his boat. Doug passed from this life on Monday, May 15th 2023 at the age of 72 years, and he will be missed immensely.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers, Junior, Steve and Roy, and four sisters, Goldie, Merle, Mildred, and Martha Lou, and grandson, Malik Hicks.
Those left to remember him are his daughters, Stacy Goad and husband Johnie of Woodall, Bobbie Williams and husband Danny, of Fort Worth, TX, Betty Thompson and Fiance Kyle Murphy, of Tahlequah, five Grandsons, Barron Hicks, Jr., Lance Peterson, Hunter Bates, Luke and Ezra Williams, and one very special granddaughter Kailynn Hicks. He leaves his sisters, Bobbie Wood of Arlington, TX, Lois Wilmon of Tahlequah, brothers, Robert Thompson and wife Lula of Teresita, W.R. Thompson of Lexington, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
