Judith Ann Carroll, or Judy to her many family and friends, was born on December 10th, 1950 in Pampa, TX, the daughter of Walter V. and Lois Alletta (Davis) Higginbotham. Judy grew up in and around Oklahoma City, with two sisters, Jane and Sandra, and attended school at NW Classen. Upon graduating, she met and married her best friend, Jimmy Elvin Carroll in Oklahoma City, OK. Together they traveled around the countryside, from Oklahoma City to Omaha, Ft Worth, TX to Georgia, they enjoyed life in these United States. They also started a family of one son and one daughter, Tracy Walter and Marcie Dawn. Judy felt the greatest achievement in life being the best daughter, wife, mother, and great grandmother "Meemaw" she could be. She was gentle and quiet, kept her distance from drama, and was sweet and gracious. She loved to go square dancing, and Judy and Jimmy were past presidents of the Southern Square Dancers Association. She liked playing games of all types, and couldn’t wait to plan the next family camping trip! She was a good cook and made amazing meatloaf, potatoes and vegetables, and her brownies were legendary. She often ran around the house in the company of one of her many canine companions, dachshunds and shih tzus, Chewey, Buddy, Maggie and Trixie. A Baptist by faith, Judy sang alto in the church choir and served in any capacity she was asked to do. She was generous and loving to all she met. The Lord called this hard working wife and mother home from her many labors on February 18th, 2023 in Tahlequah, OK, surrounded by those that loved her. She was 72 years old and will not be forgotten.
Judy is preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Addie (Nelson) Davis, her mother and father, her brother-in-law, Dr. Ted Fisher, her niece, Kimberly Dawn Jorgensen and her nephew, Neil Jorgensen.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband Jimmy of the home in Tahlequah, and her adored children, Tracy Walter Carroll of Marble Falls, TX, and Marcie Dawn Adamson of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves her two sisters, Jane Jorgensen and husband Andy of Gore, OK, and Sandra Fisher of Keys, OK. She will live on in her grand and great grandchildren, Brittany Leigh Joiner and partner Garrett of Tahlequah and Briana Nicole Adamson and fiancé Joseph of Tahlequah. Her three great grandchildren include Averleigh Isaacs, Adileigh Isaacs and Daenerys Soontay of Tahlequah. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
The family would like to take this moment to thank the many staff of Cherokee County Nursing center as well as Compassus Hospice for all the acts of kindness done to care for Judy. It is appreciated more than you will ever know.
