Dennis Ray Kingfisher

Dennis Ray Kingfisher born May 13, 1949—November 11,2022, also known as Dad, Adude, Den, and Hominy showed unconditional love for his wife Jackie (Elese), children, brothers, sisters, nieces, cousins, his song group, church family, friends and most of all, his grandchildren. He loved the Lord and spread the word through singing Cherokee Gospel songs. He spent time writing songs for interpretation so that anyone could sing in Cherokee. He touched the lives of many people and made everyone feel like close family. Dennis worked in Siloam Springs, Arkansas as a machinist at Brand Rex. When he was at home, he enjoyed many activities such as basketball, baseball, ragball, golf, fishing and shooting pool. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing music with his brothers, sisters, and cousins. At their home in Chewey, He and Jackie built a basketball court, a ragball field and a small building for a pool table so that anyone could come and play. It was truly a “place to play” for the family, friends and the community to enjoy and spend time together. He played for as long as he was able, but mostly enjoyed his time with anyone that came to play. His home away from home was “On the Hill” in Salina, Oklahoma. He and his sons would make the trip there to spend time with family every chance he could. Dennis had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed laughing and “cuttin’ up” as he would say, with his brothers and sisters. He was so loved and respected for who he was and how he was. Dennis was a complete example of how to be a son, husband, a Dad, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a friend. He could do it all with love and devotion, and a laugh to go along with it.

He joins his grandparents, Skake and Peggy (Hungry) Kingfisher and Louis and Jodi (Ross) Stealer, father and mother, Pete and Sarah (Stealer) Kingfisher, 2 daughters, Georgia Davis and Kelli Kingfisher, 4 brothers Joseph, Larry, Gary and Tuffy Kingfisher.

He lives on in his wife of 47 years, Etta Mae “Jackie” Kingfisher of the home and his children, George Davis and wife Jennifer of Kansas, Oklahoma, Karon Davis of Flint Ridge, Oklahoma, Scot Kingfisher of Kansas, Oklahoma and Dakota Kingfisher of Flint Ridge, Oklahoma. He leaves his brother and sisters, Henry Kingfisher of Salina, Oklahoma, Donna Ruth Sapp and husband Johnny of Salina, Oklahoma, Roberta Henson of Salina, Oklahoma, Peggy Payne and companion Rodney Sutter of Salina, Oklahoma and Freda Payne and husband Marvin of Salina, Oklahoma. He lives on in his 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Everyone loved him, but he loved everyone more. A celebration of his life is what he would want. Yes, it is a sad time, but it is also a happy time for him and his new journey to see his family and his many loved ones in Heaven that have loved him as we do, and that have missed him as we do. So lets celebrate his amazing, joyful life he lived and also the journey he has begun.
