Betty Sue Kelley was born on December 10th 1931, in Stroud, OK, the daughter of Pleasant and Martha Moette (Waltman) Estes, and sister to two brothers and five sisters. She graduated from high school and began her married life with Luther W. Kelley, on September 22nd, 1953, in Modesto, CA. They shared many days, good and not so good times, but always together, raising three sons! Betty was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved sharing a meal with her family, gathering with her brothers and sisters every chance they got. She loved to cook and made her families the best cakes, pies, and Sunday Dinner’s. She loved a quiet day at the river or lake, stretched out in the sun, fishing for the catch of the day. She was a member of the Crossway Southern Baptist Church, and lived her life, doing good for others and making sure those around her had what it takes to get through the day. She loved her church family and was always there for them if they needed her. Her smile was always a welcome that made others feel as if they had known Betty for years. She loved any chance to spend time with her grandchildren, Ryan and Michael. The Lord called Betty home from her labors on January 20th, 2016 in Tulsa, OK, with her loved ones by her side. Betty was 84 years old. She will be greatly missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Samuel Edwin Estes and Herman Nolan Estes, and two sisters, Mary Elouise Estes and Martha Lourene Holland.
Those left to cherish Betty’s memory include her husband of 62 years, Luther of the home in Tahlequah, and her three adored sons, Luther Kelley Jr. and his wife Lori of Petaluma, CA, Ross Kelley and wife Teresa of Siloam Springs, AR, and Billy Kelley of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves three sisters, Francis Jean Oliver of Stroud, OK, Marjorie Ellen Plamann of Kansas City, KS, and Celia Ann Arnold of Bella Vista, AR. Betty lives on in her two grandsons, Ryan Kelley and Michael Kelley both of Siloam Springs, AR as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
