Belladonna Ruby Harkey began her life’s journey on October 24th, 2008 in Claremore, OK, the daughter of Joshua Harkey and Jamie Smith. She grew up in a household with her brothers and sisters, Daxx, Drexel, Dylan, Megan and Elizabeth. From an early age, she loved to be in the great outdoors, running through the yard with her pet puppies and her beloved chickens. There was not a stray animal to be found in the area that hadn’t experienced the loving touch of Belladonna. She was happiest when getting ready to go camping under the stars and loved to try her luck at reeling in the “big fish”. When she attended school, she was the girl with the winning smile. She liked people and it showed. If you needed someone to make you smile, Belladonna was it. The friends that were quiet and soft spoken, needing someone to see their point of view, had a champion in Belladonna. When she was at home, she loved any chance to gather with her family, aunts, uncles and cousins, sharing a holiday and making people laugh, and wrestling! She possessed a world of talent, she loved music of all genres and played the guitar. She liked to draw and worked in pencil doing portraits of famous rock stars. She could split wood with the best of them, and loved working around the yard. Most of all, she loved her family, she spent every spare moment enjoying what they had together. There is an old saying that says “the brightest star burns the fastest, so we must love them while we can.” Belladonna’s star left us on June 1st, 2024, following an accident. This beautiful soul was 15 years old and gave us so much in love, happiness and joy. Until we meet again, know we love you now and forever.
Belladonna is preceded in death by her grandfather Gene Smith, her grandmother Cindy Johnson, and a cousin, Forrest Stol.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother and father, Jamie Smith of Tahlequah, OK and Joshua Harkey also of Tahlequah. Her brothers and sisters include Daxx Harkey of Tahlequah, Drexel Harkey of Tahlequah, Dylan Quick of San Diego, CA, Megan Dixon of Tulsa, OK, and Elizabeth Quick also of Tulsa. She leaves her many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones far too numerous to mention.
A Celebration of the life of Belladonna Ruby Harkey will be held on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church of Tahlequah with Pastor Shana Dry officiating.
