Julio Garcia, Jr. passed away on April 20, 2013, at the age of 64. Julio was born on December 22, 1948, to Julio and Mary V. Garcia, Sr. in Gregory, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. After his military service, Julio continued serving his community as a deputy sheriff with Jim Hogg County for fifteen years. He then changed careers and began working at Sherwin-Aluminum Refinery as an operator. He continued his employment there for twenty-eight years until his recent retirement. While his children were growing up, he enjoyed watching them play sports. He was also a longtime Longhorn’s fan. Julio always had a good time with family and friends. He was an avid dancer and he spent almost every weekend dancing with his wife, Beatrice. Julio was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Julio is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Beatrice M. Garcia; his children: Gabriel Garcia, Michelle Villanuera, Julio Garcia III, Luis Garcia, Diego Garcia, Daryl Garcia, Amber Garcia, Brandon Garcia: stepchildren: Gabriel Rodriguez, Joe Rodriguez, Tony Rodriguez, Jr., David Rodriguez, Missy Rodriguez; mother, Mary V. Garcia; sisters, Angie (Felix) Guajardo and Ester (Daniel) Garcia; twenty grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Taft. Burial will follow the service at Taft Memorial Park with full military honors.
