Elena M Frassanito

Elena Marie Frassanito beloved Sister, Aunt and Great-Aunt passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at her home in Melville, NY. She was a friend and colleague to many. Elena graduated from New Hyde Park Memorial High School in 1971 and Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY with both her BS 1975 and MS in Nursing. Her life’s work was dedicated to children’s health as a Pediatric Nurse at several Long Island hospitals. She started her career at Franklin General Hospital in Franklin Square, then at Stonybrook University Hospital and finally 30+ years at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, now known as NYU Langone, where she was a pediatric Intensive Care nurse as well as a Discharge Planning nurse. Hundreds of families who interacted with her during a difficult time in their child’s life were impressed by her caring and gentle way with their children and often remembered her kindness many years later. Having had no children of her own, she connected with these sick children and took wonderful care of them.

She leaves behind her siblings, Adrienne, Diane, Rachel and Robert, and her brothers in law Tom, Peter, and James. Her parents Salvatore and Mary Frassanito predeceased her.

Elena was a loving and generous Aunt to Jonathan, Matthew, her Godson Marc, her Godson Christopher, Juliana, Thomas, Olivia and William. She was also Great-Aunt to the next generation of nephews, Cameron, Gavin, Jack, Landon, and Graham. These children were the apple of her eye and seeing them grow up was the joy of her life.

Elena will be interred at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale in the Blessed Virgin Mary Mausoleum. She will be buried with the ashes of her beloved fur baby Duke Frassanito.
