Funeral service for William A. “Bill” Evans Sr., age 82, of Sylacauga will be Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2PM at The Sanctuary with the Rev. Jeff Fuller and Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating and will lie-in-state at the church from 1-2. Burial will follow at County Line Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Curtis and Son North Chapel from 5-8PM. Mr. Evans passed away on December 2, 2016 at UAB Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father: Cecil Evans, mother: Gladys Duncan, sister: Reba Burchett and brother: Don Evans. He was a hard worker who loved gardening and fishing. Mr. Evans retired as Sheriff of Coosa County in 2002 after serving 24 years as Sheriff, his 46 year career in law enforcement began with the Sylacauga Police Department in 1957. Upon coming to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Department in 1971, he served as chief deputy before being administered the oath of office as Coosa County Sheriff in January 1979. He is survived by his wife: Patricia Evans, daughter: Dot Evans Rye and husband Glenn, sons: William Aubrey Evans Jr and his wife Sharon, Cecil Mack Evans and his wife Linda, James Otis Evans and his wife Anita, step-daughter: Teresa Smith and her husband James, brother: Billy Evans and his wife Beverly, grandchildren: Tammy Rye Isbell, Crystal Rye Holmes, Stephanie Evans Jenks, Loren Evans McClendon, David Evans, great grandchildren: Kalen Isbell, Carter Isbell, Ethan Holmes, Cheyenne Holmes, Gavin Jenks, Ethan Jenks, Harmon James McClendon.
