Shirley Virginia (Burton) Green

Sylacauga, AL - Shirley Virginia Burton Green- Born April 20, 1938 in Alpine, Alabama to Albert and Pearl Burton and passed away July 2, 2021 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Albert Burton; husband E.M. "Mutt" Green; brothers, Leonard Burton, Howard Burton, and William "Buddy" Burton; sisters, Gladys Plowman, Ruth Jones, Edna Vanwagner, Ida Etress, and Betty Gallaher.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Virginia Francis (Tommy); son Mark Green (Rebecca); grandchildren, Kathryn (Kat) Green, Anna Francis, Jonathan Green, Ella Brown, and Loyrn Holmes; Great granddaughter, Delilah Cote; sister, Vera Stevens; and brother-in-laws, Larry Green, and Clyde Etress; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a dedicated and life-long member of Oak Grove United Church, United Methodist Women, and faithfully attended the Oak Grove Senior Citizens Group. Her greatest loves were her family, her church, the Oak Grove community, and Kymulga Grist Mill.

A special thank you to all of her extended family and neighbors.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Monday, July 5, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Radney-Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Woody Woodin and Rev. Carolyn Goza officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Junior Stevens, Steven Grier, Carson Grier Jr., Morris Thrasher, Larry Dobbs, and Charles Plowman.
