Malcolm "Jim" Bates Jr.

Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Malcolm (Jim) Bates Jr., 84, will be Monday, December 20, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Bro. Josh Burks officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.

Mr. Bates Jr. died Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his mother, Belle Robinson, father, Mack Bates, sister, Joyce Chandler, sister, Elwin Nichols, sister, Beatrice Vanzandt, and brother, Jackie William Bates, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kaylon Bates; two sons, Heath Bates, Rick Nichols; two daughters, Stacey (Tony) Rhodes, Angie (Craig) Limbaugh; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, December 20, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Osbourn, Cody Rhodes, Tony Rhodes, Craig Limbaugh, Lane Limbaugh and Ben Bates.
