Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Jimmy Charles Gilliland, 74, will be Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Radney-Smith Chapel with Bro. Terry Chappell and Rev. Donald Chappell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Talladega, AL.
Mr. Gilliland passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Pearl Gilliland; and his sisters, Catherine Gilliland and Mary Francis "Poochie" Gilliland. Mr. Gilliland honorably served in the U.S. Army for 3 years and was a graduate of Winterboro High School. He retired from Avondale Mills in Sylacauga with 43 years of service. Mr. Gilliland enjoyed meeting his friends at Huddle House and Avondale, where he went daily for 10 years. He was a loving brother and will be truly missed by his family.
Mr. Gilliland is survived by three brothers, Gene Gilliland wife Peggy of Talladega, AL, James Gilliland and family of Sylacauga, AL, and Jerry Gilliland wife Lou Ann of Fairborn, OH; three sisters, Jessie Irvin and family of Childersburg, AL, Sue Offord and family of Childersburg, AL, and Dorothy Chappell husband Terry of Lincoln, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Webster, Harold Webster, Jason Pope, Donald Chappell, Jerry Chappell, and Steve Grubbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Nelson, James Lovett, and Terry Irvin.
