Henry Lee Jackson MehergJonesboro, GA - Henry Lee Jackson "Jack" Meherg, 92, passed away, Sunday, October 24, 2010 at his daughter’s home in Atlanta, GA. He leaves behind a legacy of love to his daughters, Martha Bottens, Iris Cave, husband Tom and Denise Minor, husband Gary, nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Jack was born in Horse Stomp, Alabama on April 21, 1918. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Emma Meherg, wives Essie Roberson Meherg and Bonnie O'Barr Meherg, son Craig Hurley, and his siblings Belle, Porter, Velma and Louise.Jack proudly served his country during World War II with the US Army. In addition to serving his country and being a devoted husband and father, Jack loved the Lord and served as a member of First Assembly of God Church in Sylacauga. He retired from Avondale Mills in 1978. He will be remembered as the kind and godly man that he was.Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Charles Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.Visitation will be Tuesday, October 26 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army in his name.Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com.Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the service.
