Graveside service for Daniel Alexander Sims, age 82 of Sylacauga, will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Rick Patrick officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel on Saturday, February 27. He passed away February 24, 2021 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, best friend and caregiver, Nell Ham Sims; son, Brian Sims (Lori); daughters, Sheila Sims Martinez (Mike) and Janessa Patton (Eric); step-son, James McCollum; brother, John Terry Sims; grandchildren, Turner Sims, Abbie Grace Sims, Riley Sims, Payton McLain, Ben Collinson, Dacey Collinson, Ross Martinez, Matt Martinez, Caleb Patton, John Morgan Patton, Josh Patton, Sarah Patton Wilson, Levi McCollum, Victoria McCollum; 5 great-grandchildren; close personal friend, Ben Collinson, Sr. He was preceded in death by wife of 56 years: Carolyn Payton Sims, son: Charles Everett Sims, parents: Morgan and Lena Blair Sims and brother: Billy Sims. Dan had a kind, gentle nature and was a man who worked and lived his life for God and others. He retired from Kimberly-Clark, was a master plumber, and also served many years in the National Guard. Blue Grass music, golf, fishing, and Alabama football were activities he truly enjoyed. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga and had served as deacon at Fayetteville Baptist Church, Mignon Baptist Church.
