Shirley Ruth Parsons

Halifax / Mount Pearl, NL

With the same grace and dignity by which she lived her life, and surrounded with much love, Shirley passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

Shirley was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, partner, sister, aunt and friend and a respected employee of Canadian Blood Services in Halifax and St. John’s, NL.

She was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Joan (nee Boutilier) Hunt.

Leaving to mourn with loving and lasting memories are her devoted partner Bryan MacDougall, her children Liam, Halifax; Joshua (Dasha Ermolovich), St. John’s; Emily (Jon Bulatovic), Ottawa; Ellen, Halifax and their father, William J. Parsons, St. John’s, NL. Mourning the loss of their cherished Nana is her grandchild Olivia and her brother Nathaniel. Holding her in their hearts are her sisters, Phyllis Hunt (John Dogherty); Cathy (Gary Whalen); Patricia ‘Tish’ (Gordon Williams) and Susan (Karl Misik), as well as her many nieces and nephews and a strong circle of friends.

Shirley found more pleasure in giving than receiving and to honour her, the family requests that you do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness in her name.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to a local food bank.

Visitation for Shirley Parsons will be held on Sunday, June 12 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10 am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 40 Cabot Street, Sydney.

A private family interment to take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
