Ruth Eileen Margaret Bren

We the family of Ruth Margaret Eileen Bren, announce with sadness in our hearts, her peaceful passing on July 3rd, 2022, at the Northside Community Guest Home, where she resided for the last seven years. She was born Feb 9, 1926, in Halifax to Harold and Annie Hyson.

Ruth lived many of her years in the Whitney Pier community. Ruth was talented when it came to crafts, particularly leatherworking, knitting and crocheting. She worked as a supervisor at Zellers for many years. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

Ruth is predeceased by her husband Peter Bren, her parents Harold and Annie Hyson, daughter Patricia in infancy, brother Harvey (Norma) and her sister Guida Decoste (Leonard). Ruth is survived by her sons Peter (Mary) and their children; Peter (Rhonda), Joseph (Donnette) and Mary Catherine (Matt Walsh), Michael (Kathy) and their daughter Karel (John MacDonald). Also left to mourn are great grand-children, Matthew, Nicholas, Joshua, Connor, Harlow, Tenley, Molly, Michael, Carson and Isla. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the care of TW Curry Parkview Chapel. There will be no visitation by request and a private family service and committal will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the staff at the Northside Community Guest Home and Cara House who provided excellent and compassionate care.
