It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother Rose Mary Denny on April 16, 2021 at her residence in Eskasoni. Born on March 20, 1965 to Frederick and the late Frances (Gould) Battiste.
She is survived and will be deeply missed by her dear daughters Martha and Alcina, grandchildren Derrick, Keegan, Dedrick, Makila, Joseph, Kalista and baby Alonzo. Rose Mary will be deeply missed by her sisters Janet, Bella, Shelly and Rolanda, brothers Milton (Lynn), Cregg and Edwin as well as her father Frederick. She leaves behind her partner Mike Augustine, aunts Madeline, Joanne, Marie, Mary E, Margaret, Janet and June, uncles Oscar and Adam Gould as well as step children Coady, Shayne, Marlyn, Dawn Rose and Snow Fawn, Alonzo (the father of her children) and best friends Nat, Gail, Kim, Carmel, Kathrina, Mary Ellen, Kelly Peters and Violet Paul.
Rose Mary will also be missed by her in-laws, MaryJane, Harriet, Pauline, Elisa, Verna, Yvone, Bo Denny Sr, Yvon, Simon, Freda, Julia, Tom, Garland, Joe, Eugene Jr, Theresa, Henery,"Miney" Johnson, Harry & Florence.
Rose Mary was a life long caregiver, fisherwoman and traditional craftswoman making primarily wreaths. She loved her cultural traditions, especially going to Pow Wows. She was an everything ‘Rose’. She had a lot of friends and loved music. She was the best Indian Taco Maker.
Besides her mother, Rose Mary was predeceased by her grandparents Andrew & Mary Battiste and Joseph & Mary Rose Gould, brothers Frederick Battiste jr, uncles Stephen Battiste, Sulian Googoo, Francis, Sidney, John, James and Milton, aunts Theresa Battiste, Mary Jane Dennis, Mary Agnes, Helen and Annie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will start at 7pm on Thursday, April 22 at 4946 Shore Rd., and continue until 10:30am on Saturday, April 24 when a private family service will be held at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Parish Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.twcurry.com.
